Forecasters: Tropical Storm Sandy Not Expected to Significantly Impact Keys

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center and Key West National Weather Service Office say that Tropical Storm Sandy should not significantly impact the Florida Keys or other Florida regions.

The Florida Keys and the remainder of Florida, are currently out of the hurricane center's official forecast error track cone and there are no watches or warnings for the area at this time.

However, forecasters are cautioning that a tropical storm watch might be required for portions of the Keys Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Although the track is not expected to change, the wind field is projected to expand and there is a possibility of minimal to moderate tropical-storm force winds brushing the southeast Florida coast and a portion of the Keys.

The tropical storm watch will likely not be needed for the Lower Keys and Key West, forecasters said at the Key West office.
