Lower Keys’ Spanish Fly Music Fest to Benefit José Wejebe Foundation
RAMROD KEY, Florida Keys — Former “American Idol” contender Kate Watson and other local and regional acts are to entertain attendees at the sixth annual Spanish Fly Music Festival, a Lower Florida Keys favorite that benefits the José Wejebe Memorial Foundation.
The event is set for 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Boondocks Grille & Draft House & Miniature Golf, located on Ramrod Key at mile marker 27.5 on the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.
José Wejebe was a Keys charter captain whose top-rated television fishing show, “Spanish Fly,” inspired a generation of viewers before his untimely death in a 2012 plane crash. The foundation in his name was established to carry on his passion for conserving the marine environment, supporting those facing life-impacting challenges and making fishing dreams come true.
Watson, a 2019 American Idol alum, is to headline the festival with her heartfelt country sound. The entertainment roster also features musicians and bands including Kaira Jayde, Circa 22, Jack Fivecoate and Fried Newt.
In addition to enjoying nonstop music, festival attendees can bid on a wide range of goods, services and experiential offerings at live and silent auctions. Raffles, mini golf, a magic show, activities for children and other attractions are to round out the day’s festivities.
