Jimmy Buffett Sings at Florida Keys Wedding
SUGARLOAF KEY, Florida Keys -- Seven weeks after he fell off a stage in Sydney, Australia, singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett surprised guests at a Florida Keys wedding reception late Saturday evening with three songs during an impromptu concert.
Buffett walked barefooted on the small stage at the private residence of local dentist Fred Troxel, who a few hours earlier had exchanged nuptials with Key Wester Rita Brown. He then belted out Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" and a Rolling Stone's classic "You Can't Always Get What You Want." For his finale, Buffett sang his own "Margaritaville," with some changes in lyrics to cater to the occasion.
Buffett showed no signs of effects from the sudden five-foot fall he took when finishing up a Jan. 26 concert "down under." He was hospitalized for a brief period before being released Jan. 27, but had to cancel a scheduled concert in New Zealand to recover from injuries.
He mentioned the tumble to the audience of about 300 wedding guests saying it was the first time he had performed before any group since the incident.
