Florida Keys Flavors to Star in ‘Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted’ May 27

KEY WEST, Florida Keys – The flavors of the Florida Keys are to take center stage Monday, May 27, when an episode of “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” features the island chain, its indigenous fish and seafood, and local residents including kiteboarding Key West chef/distiller Paul Menta.

During the hour-long episode, Ramsay — a multiple Michelin-starred chef and Ironman athlete — helps Menta salt-cure barrels for his Key West First Legal Rum distillery; goes stone crabbing and diving for lobsters with local boat captains Emily and Amanda Gale; discovers exotic fruit at the Lower Keys’ Grimal Grove with owner Patrick Garvey; fishes for grunts with saltwater guide Bear Holeman and learns how to prepare them from Sheena Carey; and gets a historical perspective on Key lime pie from David Sloan, author of “The Key West Key Lime Pie Cookbook.”

Finally, Ramsay faces off against Menta in an ocean’s-edge cooking competition.

According to a program spokesperson, the Florida Keys were chosen as a location in part because their unique geography exposes them to a cross-section of cultural influences not seen anywhere else in the world.

“Culinary travel has become a huge segment of the overall travel market,” said Chad Newman, the Florida Keys’ film commissioner who helped coordinate the production. “Given Gordon Ramsay’s extensive following, this program will strongly support the Keys’ position as a must-see spot for ‘foodie’ visitors.”

Now in its fourth season, “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” reaches a global audience. The Florida Keys episode will premiere on National Geographic May 27th at 9 p.m. ET (8 p.m. CT) and is available to stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
