Lower Keys’ Island Art Fest to Offer Seasonal Gifts and Subtropical Serenity

BIG PINE KEY, Florida Keys — Sleigh rides and snowball fights aren’t on the menu of holiday amusements in the subtropical Lower Florida Keys, but visitors don’t need them to celebrate the season at the Lower Keys’ Island Art Festival.

The open-air festivities are to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, on the shaded grounds of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center at mile marker 31 oceanside on Big Pine Key.

The good-spirited gathering provides an opportunity for Thanksgiving weekend visitors and local residents to mingle, enjoy the balmy Keys climate and kick off the holidays in authentic island style.

Attendees can also explore Keys creativity during the lively family-friendly festival. Scheduled highlights include as many as 50 booths featuring original art, crafts and other items by regional artists and artisans.

Some creative spirits even offer demonstrations of their talent or share the methods used in crafting their wares.

Other festival attractions include exhibits by not-for-profit groups and live music by favorite local bands and entertainers. Food and beverages from on-site vendors are to be available to add to the seasonal cheer.

As well as a place to find one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, the Island Art Festival offers the chance for leisurely enjoyment of the Lower Keys’ tranquil natural atmosphere.

Admission and parking are free, but attendees are asked not to bring picnic baskets or coolers.
