Tropical Storm Nicole Well Away From Keys Florida Keys

FLORIDA KEYS — The Florida Keys remain well away from the center of Tropical Storm Nicole, so there were no Nicole-related watches or warnings for the island chain.

Jon Rizzo, the warning coordination meteorologist for the Florida Keys National Weather Service Office, said that moderate weather-related impacts from the fringests of the storm are winding down. They included:

•  Hazardous marine conditions for all Keys coastal waters, with a small craft warning that is likely to remain in effect, for offshore waters, that should end by early Friday.

• Some coastal flooding in addition to king tides.

Weather conditions are improving as Nicole move further away from the island chain.

No protective actions were issued by Monroe County Emergency Management, according to Director Shannon Weiner.
