- More than 40 species of fish are targeted during the multi-month tournament, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 15) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

- Key West Art & Historical Society welcomes the public to view the ‘Key West 200’ exhibit at the Custom House Museum, 281 Front St. The exhibit is to highlight Key West’s people, culture and community beginning with the settlers and government officials who arrived on this remote island in early 1822, featuring rarely displayed artifacts. Divided by decade, the exhibit emphasizes many of the significant moments and people that have influenced so much of what we celebrate today.

- 'Wild Observations in Everglades National Park' Outdoor Art Exhibition

- Exploring changes in wildlife corridors and combining scientific research with artistic interpretation, the mixed media work by conservation artist Deborah Mitchell is focused on ecological and cultural changes occurring in our wild places. Mitchell's site-specific exhibition starts at the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and continues along trails and boardwalks at the Royal Palm Visitor Center, Gumbo Limbo Trail, Long Pine Key, Pineland Trail, Pa-hay-okee Overlook Trail and Mahogany Hammock Trail. The exhibition is on view 24 hours a day.

- Interested in learning more about the complex and fascinating environmental world of Key West and the Florida Keys? Then join a Speaker Series the third Saturday of each month this spring. Topics include April 16: ‘The Cuban Chugs’ with Dr. John Bratten, University of West Florida; and May 21: ‘Biodiversity and Butterflies’ with Taylor Hun, US Fish & Wildlife Field Technician. Lectures are held in the Nature Chapel at Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden is located at 5210 College Rd., on Stock Island. Free for members, $10 for non-members.

Emphasizing harmony with nature, the return of ‘Art in the Garden' showcases local art & sculptures with artistic expressions. These works are earth-friendly in the selection of materials and themes and include recycled, repurposed, and natural material.

- The KEYS100 racers navigate up to 40 bridges flanked by the Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay and Gulf of Mexico. Three endurance competitions follow the renowned Florida Keys Overseas Highway: a 100-mile individual & team race from Key Largo to Key West, a 50-mile individual race from Marathon to Key West and a 50-kilometer individual race from Big Pine Key to Key West.

- Audiences can celebrate world music in the Florida Keys. Saturday evening’s show, beginning at 6 p.m. at the popular Florida Keys Brewing Co., mile marker 81, , is to spotlight the Caribbean-influenced world beat mastery of Johnny Dread, paired with the Latin-infused rhythms of Javier García. Sunday’s musical schedule begins at 4 p.m. Audiences can sway to the sounds of the nine-piece Latin funk band Suenalo, a critically acclaimed South Florida favorite, and the funky New Orleans style of the Bad Apples Brass Band. Both shows are to take place in the beer garden and admission is free.

Barbara Edgar, President of the Matecumbe Historical Trust, is to make the introductory welcome presentation followed by the invocation, the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem and guest speakers The service is open to the public. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend in observance of Memorial Day.
