- Delicate Balance of Nature Lecture: Effects of Climate Change on Tropical Storm and Hurricane Impacts in the Florida Keys
- Website
- While a Category 5 storm is generally the most destructive hurricane, each storm, whether big or small, fast or slow-moving, brings its own threats. With sea-level rise, "sunny-day" coastal flooding is already causing big impacts on island communities. Meteorologist Nancy Barnhart of the Florida Keys National Weather Service in Key West, will examine how even weaker storms of a longer duration, as are becoming more prevalent, can cause as much damage as a fast-moving stronger storm. 7:30-8:45 p.m. at John Pennekamp Visitor Center. Free to attend. Seating is first-come-first-served for the public. Friends of the Park members have free reserved seating. Register in advance online for Zoom link.
