  • The Key West Art Center is happy to have Lothar Speer return as a figure drawing instructor on Zoom as a virtual art instructor. Lothar studied at The National Academy of The Fine Arts, Vienna, where he received The Johannes Fueger Medal, a European distinction in the field of figure drawing. This workshop is an introduction to this powerful tradition for artists of all levels. Lothar has been teaching the figure for over three decades and delights in adjusting his feedback to each student's level and needs. The principles learned here are universal and can be applied to any subject matter and develop skill which is the prerequisite for powerful personal artistic expression. Classes are held Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Visit KWAC website for more information.

  • This year, Sundance Film Festival is doing things differently by bringing the Fest to Key West audiences with a Sundance Satellite screen in the local community, at the Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton St. Offered digitally via a custom-designed online platform alongside drive-ins, independent art-houses and a network of local community partnerships in select cities, the Utah festival's characteristics remain the same: celebrating independent film, visionary artists, unique perspectives, and adventurous audiences.

Called “one of the most innovative songwriters working today,” (Chicago Tribune), Susan Werner crafts lyrics that are as sharp as thistles, and every bit as funny as they are on point. A giant on the acoustic scene, Werner is by turns wry and passionate on stage, and famous for her live shows. Tickets for this virtual concert are $25, $22 for TSKW members.   • When Andrew Makepeace Ladd III accepts an invitation to Melissa Gardner’s birthday party, and Melissa writes a thank-you note to ask why exactly he got her “The Lost Princess of Oz” (Andrew’s answer: She looks like a lost princess), a romantic friendship and correspondence destined to last for almost half a century is born. Despite the painful differences which will ultimately tear them apart, they remain each other’s most trusted confidante, and are “true lovers” on paper, if not on this earth. Besides being a wonderful date night at the theatre, LOVE LETTERS will have a unique twist, with two different actors onstage each week, offering their own distinctive interpretation of the author’s writing.   • Tour a series of elegant and unique private homes of Key West, ranging from exquisite restorations to creative renovations, and interior design that complements each. Tours are offered 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Transportation between homes is not provided. Proceeds benefit the foundation's Oldest House Museum, grant and scholarship programs. For each tour, the number of visitors allowed inside each home will be limited, masks will be required and hand sanitizers will be provided. Reservations for tour time slots are required and tickets must be purchased in advance.

  • The Waterfront Playhouse, located at 310 Wall St., adjacent to Key West’s renowned Mallory Square, continues its 2021 season with a twist. While many in-person shows have been postponed or canceled due to the pandemic, the theater is providing Key West a different entertainment option by broadcasting live radio treatments of “Treasure Island” (Feb. 13), “It Happened One Night” (Feb. 27), “The Hitchhiker” (March 13) and “Tales of Poe” (March 27) on the Keys’ US1 Radio 104.1 FM. Theater lovers around the United States can tune in to the broadcasts via US1.com.

  • Located at 533 Eaton St., TSKW offers performances, workshops exhibitions and opportunities for collaborative creative work among other elements. This play will be available to watch on Saturday, February 13 at 8pm EST. Ticket holders will receive a secure link to watch the performance in their inbox an hour before the viewing period begins. Ticket holders will be able to stream the digital play by clicking the link, or can access the play, at their convenience, through midnight on February 27th.

  • The first Key West Artisan Market of the season is to take place from 10 am to 2 pm at Clarence H. Higgs Memorial Beach. The show has relocated to the parking lot at Sonny Mccoy Indigenous Park, 1801 White Street, across from White Street Pier and the other side of the Higgs Beach Dog Parks by the Southernmost Bocce Key West courts. The Market is to operate based on strict adherence to COVID policies and mandates. The Market has teamed up with the Key West Wildlife Center who will be open for free (donation based) tours. Guests will shop a curated outdoor market offering fine crafts, art and jewelry from talented Florida Keys makers, enjoy live music and more.

  • The Friends of the Key West Library’s popular speaker series will present the acclaimed novelist Lily King in conversation with Judy Blume via webinar, from 6-7 p.m. Ms. King will be in conversation with Key West’s own Judy Blume as she discusses her latest book Writers & Lovers, one of the New York Times 100 notable books of 2020. All lectures in the 2021 season will be presented online due to the pandemic. As in past years the lectures are free and open to all, but interested attendees must register to receive the presentation link.

  • Join Diving With a Purpose's Erik Denson to learn about maritime archaeological work being done on two Tuskegee Airman plane wrecks in the Michigan area. During the middle years of World War II, Michigan was home to several African American air combat units including many graduates of the Tuskegee pilot training program. In collaboration with NOAA, a 2015 mission concentrated on the Lake Huron wreck flown by 2nd Lt. Frank H. Moody. The aircraft was discovered on April 11, 2014, seventy years to the day of the accident. Upcoming movies are as follows: If Beale Street Could Talk (Feb 21) in celebration of Black History Month; and 9 to 5: The Story of a Movement (March 7) to celebrate International Women's Day. Each film will have an accompanying interview from the production team or cast in order to provide a connection to the film for audiences. Cinema Sunday showings will begin at 7 P.M.

  • Fine art aficionados can discover the work of several artists in a balmy open-air setting, at Truman Waterfront Park. Presented by the Key West Art Center, a co-op organization for local artists, the juried show typically draws artists from across the United States and Canada. Offerings range from watercolor and oil paintings to sculptures, graphics, collages and photography. KWAC is blending their Key West Craft Show into the Old Island Days Art Festival to produce a high quality Art & Fine Craft event.
