Lower Keys’ Spanish Fly Music Festival Set for Jan. 29

RAMROD KEY, Florida Keys — Attendees can rock to music by renowned regional bands and entertainers while benefiting the José Wejebe Memorial Foundation at the fifth annual Spanish Fly Music Festival.

The event is set for 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Boondocks Grille & Draft House on Ramrod Key at mile marker 27.5 on the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.

José Wejebe was a Florida Keys charter captain whose top-rated television fishing show, “Spanish Fly,” inspired a generation of viewers before his untimely death in a 2012 plane crash.

The foundation that bears his name was established to honor Wejebe’s legacy through conservation, education and making fishing dreams come true for people facing life-impacting challenges.

The festival’s entertainment roster features musicians and bands that play a leading role in the Keys’ live music scene including Brian Roberts, Cory Young, Ty Thurman, Adrienne Z, John Bartus and Erica Sunshine Lee.

In addition to enjoying nonstop music, festival attendees can bid on a wide range of goods, services and experiential offerings at a silent auction. The event’s other attractions include a raffle, miniature golf and a bounce house and face painting for children.
