Tropical Heat’s Sultry Revelries to Entice Key West Visitors Aug. 10-14

KEY WEST, Fla. — The offbeat island of Key West, renowned for its year-round subtropical weather and lively festivals, is to entertain revelers with a sizzling long weekend of all-male adult events scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 10-14.

Tropical Heat’s all-male theme parties, pool parties, clothing-optional events and adult-oriented entertainment showcase the island’s LGBTQ venues. Attendees can also enjoy activities ranging from eco-tours to museum explorations. 

“This year is the 10th anniversary of Tropical Heat, which is hosted by the Key West Business Guild and is the only annual all-gay male event in the Florida Keys,” said Kevin Theriault, executive director of the guild.

The atmosphere begins to heat up at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, with an official kick-off party at the Island House Resort, 1129 Fleming St. The launch is to feature poolside drink specials, appetizers and prize giveaways. 

The following day, festival fans can cool down with an all-male clothing-optional snorkeling excursion aboard the Blu Q, departing from 120 Margaret St. The four-hour sailing trip, slated for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, offers snorkeling with planned stops at tranquil sandbars and other uncrowded locales. 

Thursday night’s sizzling schedule of events includes the “SuperGay Party” at Mangoes restaurant, 700 Duval St. Attendees are encouraged to show up in their favorite superhero costumes. 

The fun and frolic are to continue Friday with an afternoon “Splash” pool party at the Bourbon St. Pub, 724 Duval St., followed by evening festivities including a sunset sail, drag shows and sultry late-night dance parties at multiple LGBTQ venues. 

Saturday’s highlights include the Island House Resort’s “Skinny Dip Pool Party” with complimentary ice-cold shots and hot prizes.

The red-hot festival continues Sunday with scheduled revelries including a “Drunken Drag Brunch: Tropical Heat Edition” at Mangoes from noon to 3 p.m.; a daytime snorkeling sail and a sunset cruise aboard the Blu Q; and Key West’s time-honored 4 p.m. Tea Dance at La Te Da, 1125 Duval St.

Closing events are to include shows and gatherings at clubs in the “Pink Triangle,” an area of LGBTQ bars, entertainment venues and shops around the 700 block of Key West’s renowned Duval Street.

Tropical Heat VIP all-access passes are available for $99 per person. Alternatively, attendees can pay individual event admissions.
