Mile 0 Fest to Celebrate ‘Red Dirt’ and Americana Music in Key West

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Performances by the Turnpike Troubadours, the Mavericks, Trampled by Turtles, the Randy Rogers Band and other leading Americana and “Red Dirt” musical acts are among the anticipated highlights for audiences Tuesday through Saturday, Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, at Key West’s Mile 0 Fest.

Nearly 70 artists are to perform at the annual festival, all representing the Red Dirt and Americana musical styles that incorporate elements of rock, country and the American roots tradition. The event’s “Mile 0” moniker refers to Key West’s location at the beginning, or “mile 0,” of U.S. Highway 1.

Attendees can enjoy Key West’s subtropical “winter” climate during four days of main stage shows at Key West’s open-air Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheater. The main stage performances are to be complemented by intimate acoustic sessions at other island locations, with featured talents entertaining fans on more than 15 stages.

The musical lineup features groups and bands ranging from emerging artists to critically acclaimed stars of the genre. As well as the headliners already listed, performers include Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bruce Robison, Jack Ingram, Wade Bowen, Bri Bagwell, Reckless Kelly and other notables.

While enjoying the stellar musicianship, audiences at Truman Waterfront Park can purchase offerings from food trucks and chalet tents with full-service bars.

Also planned is a charity fishing derby set for Friday, Feb. 1. Participants can experience a half-day of deep-sea angling with a professional Florida Keys guide, followed by a fish fry with live music at Dante’s Key West, 951 Caroline St.

Festival admission options include four-day “beach bum” packages and single-day passes, each allowing entrance into all event venues.
