Freebee Islamorada Offers Free Rides in Upper Matecumbe Key

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Need a ride in Islamorada after shopping or dining?

Freebee Islamorada operates a new free electric vehicle ride service Thursdays through Sundays in Upper Matecumbe Key.

The service, a six-month trial launched Nov. 29 by the Village of Islamorada and Freebee, is described as a “fun alternative transportation option.”

Freebee’s environmentally friendly electric vehicles are restricted to 35 mph and cannot travel across bridges of the Overseas Highway.

Freebee’s service is offered Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays from noon to midnight and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The service is not available Mondays through Wednesdays.

During the trial period, Village of Islamorada officials and Freebee are to consider possible expansion throughout Islamorada along the Overseas Highway.
