Kick Off 2019 at Upper Keys’ ‘Uncorked’ Food & Wine Festival Jan. 10-20

Florida Keys — Wine and food lovers can stimulate their taste buds at the annual “Uncorked: The Key Largo and Islamorada Food and Wine Festival,” an 11-day culinary and cocktail extravaganza set for Thursday, Jan. 10, through Sunday, Jan. 20.

Attendees can discover the flavors of these two Upper Keys regions during the food, wine and spirits celebration that boasts scores of tantalizing events at several venues.

Highlights are to include complimentary wine, beer and spirits tastings and several prix fixe wine dinners at area restaurants; a hilarious back-by-popular-demand grape stomping contest; Key Largo Fisheries’ “Lobsterfest”; a “Pop-Up-Miami” gourmet dinner featuring visiting chefs; and much more. A complete list of events can be found at floridakeysuncorked.com.

A “Chocolate Meets Cabernet” event is planned at the Key Largo Chocolates emporium in addition to a popular junior chocolatiers cooking class with the Keys’ only chocolatier. Multiple Sunday brunches also are planned as part of Uncorked’s culinary festivities.

The festival’s largest event, the “Grand Tasting,” is set for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, spanning the outdoor oasis beside the Atlantic Ocean at Islamorada’s newly opened Postcard Inn Beach Resort, located at MM 84. Attendees can sample signature dishes from numerous area restaurants complemented by an impressive selection of wines. Live music, cooking and mixology demonstrations and cocktail tastings round out the afternoon.

The Grand Tasting’s general admission tickets are $65 per person plus tax in advance and $75 at the gate. VIP tickets are available for $90 per person plus tax, allowing early entry at 11 a.m. to enjoy a VIP hour until noon. The VIP package includes a souvenir festival T-shirt, poster, tasting glass and gift bag with a cookbook featuring Keys chefs’ recipes.

World-renowned marine life artist and part-time Keys resident Wyland is to contribute original artwork exclusively for the Uncorked festival posters as well as a silent auction for attendees to bid on throughout the festival and grand tasting. Proceeds from the auction are to benefit academic programs at Florida Keys Community College.
