Accommodation options for visitors to the Florida Keys are continuing to expand with a variety of new properties scheduled to open in the coming months.
Ranging from the Keys’ first luxury-inclusive, adults-only resort to a new literary-inspired property, the ongoing development reflects the enduring popularity of the 125-mile subtropical island chain, noted for its pristine marine environment, world-class fishing, diving and snorkelling, and including the quirky, off-beat island city of Key West.
Curio Collection by Hilton is set to unveil Baker’s Cay Resort in Key Largo, just an hour’s drive south of Miami, on completion of a multimillion-dollar redesign late this autumn. The 13-acre, 200-room beachfront resort will offer outdoor sanctuaries, a grand lawn and a variety of watersports, including parasailing, paddle boarding and jet skiing. The Tiki Bar, a beachside tequila and taco venue, will serve house-made hot sauces crafted from peppers grown on the property. The all-new adults-only Bungalows Key Largo, a 12-acre, 135-unit property billing itself as “luxury inclusive”, is set to open in late autumn as the first all-inclusive resort in the Florida Keys. Most rooms will average about 800 square feet and include private outdoor plunge pools or tubs. The resort will offer two in-ground pools, five indoor and outdoor restaurants, four bars, 1,000 feet of shoreline and three piers to accommodate boats up to 40 feet long, all incorporating a “Florida Keys chic” design.
