Key West BrewFest Continues Through Labor Day Weekend

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Those who love lager or revere beer can indulge their cravings over Labor Day weekend during the annual Key West BrewFest scheduled now through Monday, Sept. 3.

The festival is to feature close to 200 beers and ales, showcased at events ranging from mouthwatering beer dinners and a fun-filled “poker run” to the oceanfront Signature Tasting Festival.

Beer selections range from the uniquely named Andygator by Abita and Inlet Brewing’s Monk in the Trunk to local offerings from the Florida Keys Brewing Co., Islamorada Beer Co. and Key West’s Waterfront Brewery.

Festival events include a Kona Beer beach party at the Southernmost Beach Café, 1405 Duval St.; a Florida Tap Takeover at Waterfront Brewery; the Magic Hat Hot Trot that blends running, beer and a “most magical hat” contest; and a hangover brunch and pool party at The Perry Hotel, 7001 Shrimp Road.

The BrewFest Signature Tasting Festival, featuring nearly 200 beers from around the world, is set for 5-8 p.m. Saturday on Key West’s South Beach at 1405 Duval St. Admission is $40 per person in advance, $45 at the door or $75 in advance for the tasting and a 3-5 p.m. VIP gathering with passed appetizers.

At 8 p.m. a Second Line March led by the New Orleans band Water Seed is scheduled to depart South Beach. Participants dance down Key West’s legendary Duval Street to a party at the Green Parrot Bar, 601 Whitehead St.

BrewFest is presented by the Southernmost Beach Resort and the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic and benefits the club’s charitable efforts.

Festival details and tickets will be “on tap” at the BrewFest Hospitality Suite at the Southernmost Beach Resort, 1319 Duval St., open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
