  • History of Diving Museum is once again participating as a Blue Star Museum. Since the programs’ inception in 2010 HDM has collaborated with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense, along with more than 2,000 museums across America. This unique platform offers free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel and up to five family members, from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day. Over 1,500 individuals have benefited by visiting the History of Diving Museum alone.

  • Multiple groups such as Diving With a Purpose, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Biscayne National Park, and more have spent 15 years working together to showcase cultural and natural resources throughout the country. They focus in the protection, documentation, and interpretation of African slave trade shipwrecks and the maritime history and culture of African-Americans. This new exhibit at the History of Diving Museum, mile marker 82.9, highlights several shipwrecks and aircraft and the archaeological processes used to study them.

  • McLaughlin is a 26 year old Country Soul Singer/Songwriter who gained international recognition on Season 6 of NBC’s hit show “The Voice”. She was a member of Blake Shelton’s Team and her combination of powerhouse vocals, stunning looks and sweet demeanor took her all the way through to the finals. Audra's been working on some new originals that she'll be performing, along with her favorite songs that made such a big impact when she shined on The Voice. Audra will be performing at Heartbreakers Brewhouse at 81001 Overseas Hwy, from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.

  • Please join Your Paddling Fools and Florida Keys Brewing Co. in Honoring and Supporting Our Courageous Service Men and Women and their Brave Families. Open to everyone to participate in a "poker" paddle race for kayaks and stand-up paddle boards in beautiful Islamorada. Essentially a "poker run" is an excuse to get together, have some fun and raise money and awareness for a great cause. The approximately 4-mile route will consist of five stops in mainly shallow water, including two sandbars. Packet Pick Up Party on Friday 9/6 as well as a Awards Ceremony Grand Finale Party on Sunday 9/8.

  • In the first of three tournaments in the annual Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series, also called The Trilogy, anglers target tarpon, permit and bonefish to achieve the coveted "flats grand slam." The event raises funds for the fight against cystic fibrosis. A number of celebrities show their support by taking part in the tournament each year. Celebrity competitors have included Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, former Denver Broncos football player Mark Cooper and former NASA space shuttle astronaut Bruce Melnick.

  • Each year, Fish With a Hero provides world-class fishing experiences and sponsored programs designed to assist participants in dealing with the effects of PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and other disabilities and wounds of war. Fish With a Hero is hosting 25 wounded and disabled veterans during this special therapeutic fishing experience. Participants will be fishing out of World Wide Sportsman with professional captains. The public is welcome to attend the Heroes Welcome Reception and Dinner held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Islamorada Fish Company, 81532 Overseas Hwy, and order off-the-menu items. Dinner is at 6 p.m.

  • This challenge recognizes individual and team champions scoring the largest bonefish and permit, and the top anglers in fly and grand slam divisions (for the top spin or fly angler who releases the largest bonefish, permit and tarpon "slam"). The event is one of the few tournaments where anglers can fish without a professional guide.

  • Four-person teams can sign up to compete. Friday at REEF headquarters, mile marker 98.3, late registrations are held at 5:30 p.m., and a one-hour mandatory Captain's Meeting follows for the team captains. New this year is remote attendance for Captains, via Go To Meeting. Details are on the REEF website. Teams may begin collecting lionfish at sunrise Saturday. All lionfish must be turned into the scoring station. After Sunday’s collections are complete, there is to be lionfish scoring, fillet and dissection demonstrations, lionfish tastings, games, raffle prizes and other activities starting at 12:00PM that are open to public. Chefs will be providing lionfish cooking demonstrations and tastings. Saturday and Sunday events to be staged at Postcard Inn, mile marker 84.

  • Admission is free at the Center, who is participating in Smithsonian magazine’s 15th annual Museum Day, an initiative in which participating museums across the United States open their doors for free for those who download a branded ticket. The annual event allows cultural attractions to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day. Those wishing to attend and participate in Museum Day 2019 can download an admission ticket online. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free admission on Sept. 21. The center, on the property of the Islander Resort, MM 82, is open 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

  • Discovery Saturday from 10-11 a.m. is hosted by the Dolphin Research Center, and children will discover the amazing abilities of dolphins. “Diving Dolphins” will include a game of “Guess the Skull” and other activities to teach children about dolphin biology. Space is limited. The Florida Keys Eco-Discover Center, operated by Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, hosts Discovery Saturday for children in kindergarten through fifth grade on the third Saturday of each month. Located in NOAA's Dr. Nancy Foster Florida Keys Environmental Complex on the Truman Annex waterfront in Key West, the Eco-Discovery Center features more than 6,000 square feet of interactive exhibits, which interpret the resources and management efforts of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, two national parks, and four national wildlife refuges.

  • The Nursery at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden will be offering native trees, shrubs and vines for sale from 9am to noon. Nursery volunteers have propagated over 160 species of plants that brings the inventory to more than 1,500 plants that attract butterflies and birds. Many plants are on the State of Florida endangered species list. Key West Tropical Forest members receive a 15% discount. All proceeds directly benefit the Garden’s conservation program. The Garden is located at 5210 College Road on Stock Island.

  • Floating greens, golf boats and biodegradable fish food balls highlight the annual "par-tee" on the water during the popular Conch Scramble charity golf tournament. Fans of golf and boating can expect to have a "hole" lot of fun honing their swings and raising money for charity one shot at a time. Up to 50 teams can enter this one-of-a-kind golf experience. Teams make stops at eight different Islamorada waterfront venues and come ashore to tee off. Each player has two shots at the floating holes using biodegradable golf balls that dissolve into fish food after 90 hours in the water.

  • Florida Keys visitors can learn, discover, enjoy and be inspired by Everglades National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park, both accessible from the island chain. Ferries and seaplanes leaving from Key West for the Dry Tortugas will waive park entrance fees per visitor. Car entrance fee for Everglades National park is to be waived. During fee-free days, the 124 national parks that charge entrance fees waive them for all visitors. The entrance fee waiver for the fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for things such as camping, boat launches, transportation, or special tours.

  • Trio Gaspard, whose members are from Germany, Greece and the UK, is one of the most sought-after trios of its generation. Jonian Ilias Kadesha (violin), Vashti Hunter (cello) and Nicholas Rimmer (piano) have been invited to perform regularly at major international concert halls like Wigmore Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. They have been winners of three major international competitions since their inception in 2010. All Impromptu Classical Concerts are at 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 Duval St. in Old Town.
